Energy Bite 171 – What’s Your Attitude About Life?

Today is the last day of January 2017. Tomorrow will be February 1st. This year is already flying by. I am soon to be 77 years old. I can choose to look at my age from a negative perspective, or from a positive perspective. “Oh no, in just two months, I’ll be another year older. Life has gone by so fast and it has passed me by. There’s so little time left, etc.”  Or, I can look at it like “Wow, look at me, I’m nearly 77 and I feel healthy, fit, and filled with personal energy! I feel good! I have plenty of years ahead of me and I can start tomorrow with a clean slate!” The first attitude is filled with negativism and a poor outlook on life and the future. It will result in stress, sickness and a “getting old” attitude. The second is the way of Health, Fitness and Personal Energy. It’s what I call a “Come Alive” attitude.

Any two people with the identical set of circumstances, can look at life completely differently. The person with the “getting old” attitude will have a miserable rest of their life, filled with negativism and even depression. They will find all the trappings of old age, dwell on them, and live with them. They will find other miserable people to commensurate with. They will dwell on their misery and other people’s dramas. They suck the energy from the people around them.

The person with the “come alive” attitude will live their life with a positive outlook, good health, lots of energized people around them, and will enjoy their life to the fullest. Yes, there will be bouts of sadness and negativity in their life, but they will deal with it in a positive way. they will find themselves around like minded, positive people who lift them up rather than tear them down. They will live their life filled with health, fitness and a high personal energy level.

Both will have their aches and pains. Both will have sadness and grief. But as the old adage goes: “It’s not what happens to you, it’s about how you deal with what happens to you.” Life will go on for both.

It’s been both scientifically and anecdotally demonstrated that exercise and eating healthfully, breathing deeply and getting plenty of rest and sleep, contribute in a major way to a positive attitude about life. Since it’s also been demonstrated that positive people live longer, happier and healthier lives, it would make sense to include all of the above somewhere in your daily routine.

Just a thought. Thank you for reading.

Energy Bite 167 – Those Darned Plateaus

The gyms are full again. And the produce aisles at the grocery stores are full of people looking for healthy foods. It’s the same every year. I saw the term “January People” used to describe those who start their new Health and Fitness Resolutions with their own “quick start” effort, usually on January 2nd, and… Continue Reading
